PW TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES QUALIFIED FOR STATESPosted on 05/18/2026
This past weekend our PW Track and Field program qualified 5 athletes in two events for the PIAA outdoor State Championship this weekend at Shippensburg University.
The boys 4x800m (Josh Bucko, Will Waerig, Chris Gekonge, and Brett Westerfer) ran an amazing exciting race battling between positions 1 and 4 the entire race, ultimately finishing in 3rd overall in a new school record of 7:47.77 placing them 4th in the state and 35th in the US. They should find themselves in contention for a podium spot if not the state 4x800m title.
Emma Simeral qualified in the open 800m. Running a gutsy race from the start running with the lead pack and pushing for a 6th place podium finish overall. Breaking her own school record in a time of 2:13.75 putting her #13 in Pa. Key positioning she can find herself in the mix for a top 8 podium finish.
Both Emma and the Boys 4x800 will compete this weekend 5/23 & 5/24 for States at Shippensburg University.
